    The most common cause of common skin warts are in fact due to HPV, but not the same strains as those that cause anogenital warts or anogenital cancers.
    There are over 130 known strains of HPV. Some cause common skin warts, some cause genital warts, some cause anogenital cancers, some cause oral cancers, others seem to not do anything.
    The different strains have types of skin that they prefer to infect and are rarely interchangeable

    No, there are over 100 types of the HPV. Genital warts and the warts you get on your hands are a different types/strains of the HPV.
    Genital warts are small lumps that develop on the genitals and/or around the anus. Most anogenital warts are caused by HPV types 6 or 11. Common warts that many people have on their hands and feet are caused by a different type of HPV.
