Posted in Uncategorized on Mar 11, 2010

I had an abnormal pap back in November. A had a biopsy and all that jazz. I was told that i had mild dysplasis and that come back in a year to have my anual pap. If i had genital warts, hpv, would the test have shown that? Is it possible that i could have genital warts if i had mild dysplasis?
would my doctor have told me if i had the strand of HPV?

  1. Okay…

I believe that both Genital Warts as well as Mild Dysplasia are caused by the HPV. However, just because you have one strain of HPV, doesn’t mean you have them all or several. Mild Dysplasia is NOT the same strain as the HPV that causes genital warts.

Having said this, it is possible that you could contract genital warts from someone else who has it. But otherwise, no, you don’t have it/ will not get it.

If you had genital warts, no, the PAP smear would NOT have shown that. You can only be diagnosed with Genital Warts while you have an outbreak. Your doctor would be able to assess it as such just by looking at it.

Hope this helps some. All the best.

There are various forms of HPV. So it doesn’t necessarily mean you have the strain of HPV that causes genital warts. If you don’t want to go back to your doctor. You can go always give Planned Parenthood a shot.

As always, it’s bets to make extremely sure bc genital warts can cause cancer if not taken care of and prevented.

A ‘high risk’ HPV causes cervical .

    Best of luck!
