I have genital herpes. Is it possible to give myself oral herpes or herpes if the eyes?
I was diagnosed with genital herpes a few days ago and there are all sorts of questions about whether you can give yourself genital herpes through oral herpes. My question is the other way around.
If my genital herpes comes in contact with my eyes or mouth is it possible for it to spread?
Thanks

Yes, if you hands touch your genital area and then your eyes, herpes of both kinds are very contagious.
Possibly.
HSV = Herpes Simplex Virus
HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the viruses cause, but they also are released between outbreaks from skin that does not appear to have a sore. Generally, a person can only get HSV-2 infection during sexual contact with someone who has a genital HSV-2 infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.
HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but it more commonly causes infections of the mouth and lips, so-called “fever blisters.” HSV-1 infection of the genitals can be caused by oral-genital or genital-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. Genital HSV-1 outbreaks recur less regularly than genital HSV-2 outbreaks.
Yes it is. Try not to touch your face right after you diddle yourself. however… on the bright side, more and more people have herpes so you’ll still be able to have sex, just with people who already have it.
yes very possible!
i was diagnosed with HSV-1 genital herpes 2 years ago. 6 months after being diagnosed with genital herpes i was diagnosed with occular herpes. Since there was stress on my eye (because i wore contacts and never would take them out) the virus traveled through my body and up my occular nerve causes an outbreak to occur on my cornea. I now have corneal scarring and am legally blind because of it. My vision will continue to get worse if i continue to experience outbreaks.
I know its hard not to itch the genital herpes sores but try your best to keep your hands away from your eyes and mouth while you are experiencing an outbreak. Always keep your hands clean, i even carry around hand santizer. Be careful.. hope ive helped! good luck =)
Auto innoculation can happen when you first get herpes. It means to infect yourself…for examply you touched your genitals and then touched your mouth or eye without washing your hands. It will NOT travel through your body internally and infect itself in one of these areas. I’ve also heard of people infecting themselves through their razor.
I’m adding a link to a wonderful resource. Good luck to you.
Herpes are contagious!
