**Let me clarify. ALL warts be they genital or otherwise are caused by the HPV virus. The HPV virus has about a 100 different strains. Some cause genital warts, some cause cervical cancer and others cause the regular warts you get on your hands. However, the warts you get on your hand will not likely migrate to your genitals.
