They can appear at any time in someones life if they are infected, or not at all. I have a friend who's had them her whole life (she's 32 and she was born with them) but they all slowly disappeared within a month. Who knows, she might end up with them again. That's the nature of the virus. There are treatments, though, no dead-set cure, for the warts. If you and your partner see your gp, he/she can remove them using liquid nitrogen. Or, the gp might put you and your boyfriend onto a topical cream. While these treatments will remove the warts, the virus will always remain in your system. There is a shot for it but it's not entirely clear as to it's effect on people who are already infected.
