If my body rids HPV then the virus is gone for good right?04.23.10

So, I went to the dr. and got a physical (pap smear and all) and was diagnosed with genital warts. She prescribed some cream. But didn’t really give me any detail about my problem. I’ve looked up info on the net but am still confused, what i am getting is: My body can fight off HPV-if i am lucky, so I will no longer have the virus- right? How does the virus affect me other than having the warts?

If Genital Warts Go Away On There On Will The Virus Still Lay Dormat In The Body?02.24.10

Yes, the virus will remain. Every virus you get never really goes away. HPV works the same. Once the tests come back negative, the HPV is still there and you probably will never have a recurrence, or be able to transmit it to a future partner. Some HPV infections do persist for life, but 98% do not. 92% of people have no signs or symptoms of HPV within 6-12 months after infection, and they never have a recurrence.
80% of sexually active adults will get HPV in their lifetime. It sucks, I had it, but it’s nothing to freak out about. You will be okay :-)
Just check in with the doctor.
