I Had An Abnormal Pap Over 6 Yrs Ago And Found Out I Had Hpv. My Gynecologist Performed Cryortherapy.?02.08.10

I then had repeat paps every 6 months for 2 years to ensure it didn’t re-occur, and it never did. He informed me that the therapy was succesfull and as long as I kept getting my yearly exams and they were normal, I had gotten rid of the hpv. I recently found bumps around my vagina and went to the Dr. where he said I had venereal warts…hpv. Could this be related to the hpv I had over 6 yrs ago even though I never had warts, or is this a new strand which I recently contracted?

My Gynecologist Told Me That I Cannot Spread The Hpv That I Have Because I Have No Warts Is This True?12.01.09

I agree with the poster above, your OB-GYN got it all wrong.
HPV is a viral infection. Viral infections are not curable and are contagious/infectious. Just like HIV and Herpes 1 & 2.
Because it is a viral infection, whether they had been frozed off or not visible to the eye, it is still transmittable. You HAVE TO inform your partners of this viral infection just like if you were to have HIV or Herpes 1 & 2. They all can be transmitted.
Please, find another gynocologist doctor to assist you on this situation. I do not why she would even think that! I would not feel comfortable with this doctor.
